Childview Magazine

Reinventing a flagship magazine to attract a new audience.

Childview is a magazine published by World Vision Canada, a global humanitarian organization dedicated to helping children. Childview is its flagship communications vehicle, reaching more than 300,000 readers. World Vision Canada recognized a redesign and digital component could bolster communications and fundraising efforts and turned to Rmrkbl to re-envision its publication design.

A strategic redesign to tell an organization’s story.

Working with World Vision Canada’s in-house editorial team, Rmrkbl’s initial challenge was to redesign the print publication in order to enhance the relevance and impact of its content. Rmrkbl also aimed to develop a seamless mobile application for younger audiences. As World Vision Canada’s relaunch and rebrand consultant, Rmrkbl redesigned the magazine’s overarching navigation, grid, and cover masthead and introduced fonts more reflective of the magazine’s audience. The addition of simple but compelling data-driven infographics, maps, and charts communicated successes and inroads made by the organization.

The results.

Over the course of three successful redesigns, Rmrkbl ensured each issue served to inspire and galvanize World Vision Canada’s new and core readers and its growing donor base to become more involved in child sponsorship. Rmrkbl’s design translated across print and digital seamlessly, allowing for a positive user experience.

Childview’s app capitalized on the power of spoken words, video, and animated infographics to create a fully immersive, emotionally resonating experience. It also created a successful new channel by which World Vision Canada could gather and measure readership data and sponsorship conversions.

“Rmrkbl’s leading and critical role and tremendous work art directing Childview has been responsible for the magazine’s success as evidenced by it winning 17 Gold Medal Awards from the Canadian Church Press, breaking the mold of art direction and traditional religious journalism, thereby transforming Childview into an influential and distinguished publication.”

“Cover wraps (above/below) designed by Rmrkbl were an effective call to action for sponsors interested in getting involved with World Vision Canada, above and beyond the call of sponsorship.”
